Training Schedule and Forms for Caregivers

Foster caregivers are required to complete 27 hours of Foster Parent Orientation training before certification, and 22.5 hours of ongoing training each year. Classes cover a variety of topics designed to help caregivers meet the needs of children in their care. Orientation and ongoing trainings are offered virtually and in-person across Ohio, led by Cadence staff and certified trainers from the Ohio Child Welfare Training Program.

Training Schedule

Foster Parent Orientation Classes: What You Need to Know Before Opening Your Home

  • Wednesdays: 5:30–8:30 PM

  • Fridays: 9:00 AM–12:00 PM

1. Daily Behavior Log

Use this document to help you monitor a child's daily progress and behavior


Turn this document in with your monthly census sheet


It is required that you fill out this form for all children placed in your home

2. Medication Log

Use this document to help you monitor a child's medication intake


Turn this document in with your monthly census sheet


It is required that you fill out this form for all children on medication in your home

3. Respite Care Report

Use this document whenever you care for a child in your home on a respite basis


Remember you must also complete daily behavior logs for these children as well


Return this form with the staff person returning your child from respite

4. Census Report

Fill out this form at the completion of every month and forward it to the fiscal department for reimbursement
