Behavioral Health Respite for OhioRISE Youth
Supporting youth. Supporting families. Building community connections.
Cadence Care’s Behavioral Health Respite program offers a safe, supportive, and engaging break for parents and caregivers of youth enrolled in OhioRISE. Through positive, interactive activities, we give caregivers time to recharge while helping youth build skills, confidence, and community connections.
What Is Behavioral Health Respite?
Behavioral Health Respite is a planned, scheduled service designed to:
Support youth in meeting their Care Plan goals
Stabilize behavioral health concerns that impact the youth and family
Provide caregivers relief from the demands of full-time care for complex needs
Our trained respite providers engage youth in positive, prosocial activities, at home or in the community, fostering healthy development and long-term community involvement.
Respite services are available for OhioRISE-enrolled youth who are:
- Toilet trained
- Up to 21 years old
Respite may take place in-home or in the community during daytime hours. For youth with safety concerns (such as running away or physical aggression), respite may be limited to the home.
Our activities are designed to encourage community engagement and personal growth.
Examples include:
Trips to local parks and playgrounds
Visits to community libraries
Interactive group or one-on-one activities that align with Care Plan goals
Respite is not a crisis service and does not replace regular clinical care such as therapy or behavior support. Caregivers are expected to maintain regularly scheduled appointments to help providers build rapport with youth.
